Worship Arts Teams
At Seattle Unity, Worship Arts means any artform that intersects with worship, whether it's music, dance, visuals, design, poetry, or any other artform.
Worship Arts Director Erin McGaughan leads teams of volunteer congregant singers, supporting all our Sunday services, along with our pro houseband and pro local guest soloists. Inclusion is crucial here, so you don't need fancy skillsets. Just email Erin and let her know you're interested: erinm@seattleunity.org.
Check out some previous services to see the kinds of things our platform backup-singers do. Volunteer instrumentalists are also invited to reach out, though stronger skillsets are needed for those spots.
Erin also presents other Worship Arts workshops and events in a variety of subjects. This past year has seen sessions on vocal technique, sacred scents, singalongs, dance and movement (workshop featuring local master Leah Mann), sound baths, congregant art show, hymnody, seasonal decor, caroling, and more. Got an idea for a session? Email Erin at erinm@seattleunity.org.
Erin hires professionals, too. Do you know of local musicians and artists who could be great in our Sunday services, or leading a special workshop? Email Erin at erinm@seattleunity.org.

Carolyn’s Quilts I’ve enjoyed Carolyn’s beautiful, classically trained voice for several years, and only just learned that she’s also a quilter. We see Carolyn regularly now in Zoom Fellowship, and got peeks at some of her masterful work. From Carolyn: I started getting interested in art quilts about 10 years ago and it’s become quite…

She’s smart, warm, creative, open to wonder, and a brilliant conversationalist — the perfect travel companion. Here’s just one of her Covid projects, which she’s been sharing on her Facebook…

Chants On Demand During this time of social distancing, chanting together is one of the things I miss most. A congregant recently asked about a particular meditative chant, Sa Ta Na Ma, which inspired me to post this page with a bunch of different meditative chant recordings from our archives. I encourage you to see…

Kiraya manifests Divine Creativity I first met Kiraya Kestin Langberg through choir music, but later learned about her lifetime of multi-modal creative output, through fashion, jewelry, painting, music, gardening, and the art of family. She tells me her name Kiraya has a Native American origin, meaning “Flying Rays of the Sun” or “One who Creates.”…

Casey’s Eye on the City If you’re lucky enough to see his posts on Facebook, you already know Casey Longacre as a sort of philosopher/photographer. He gave me permission to post some samples of his city walks during this strange time, simultaneously his retirement, springtime, and COVID-19. March 4th “The light bounced off the…
