Worship Arts Discussion – Sunday Readings
What makes a great Sunday reading? Does it need to be profound? Can it be a good reading even if it’s not “great” writing?
Come tell us what you’ve liked the most about Sunday readings, what kinds of things impacted you, and deepened your experience of the service. We’ll bring along a bunch of examples from past Sunday services to start discussion.
Like this one, called The Cycle of Life, by Valsa George, from a service in February. Or this one called Remember, by Joy Harjo, from a service in April.
And we welcome your suggested readings, too! Do you have something in your files that you think would truly bless our Sunday service?
Rev. Karen chooses our Sunday readings based on her current talk topics, and she has selected pieces from a huge range of global sources, as well as materials suggested by and even written by congregants, too. The remaining ministry topics for 2023’s Cycles of Life theme include “I Delve” and “I Explore” as well as the Burning Bowl (Releasing) and the Whitestone (New Beginnings) themes.
As always, if you have input, but you can’t attend these meetings, email your thoughts about Worship Arts to erinm@seattleunity.org.
