Solstice Vigil
I often hear during December that there is a yearning to align with the quieter, darker days of late fall and winter. Yet, in the northern hemisphere the quieter late fall and early winter time coincides with our holiday festivities. We value the celebrations and time with loved ones. As a result our calendars become quite full and it can seem challenging to slow down in December.
This year there will not be the same social gatherings and as a result, possibly less full calendars. For many this will be a significant loss and it is important to take the time to grieve that which is missed. I also encourage us to lean into the shorter days and create space for slowing down.
In support of this I invite you to join me for a 24-hour winter solstice silent retreat. We will come together at 7:00 pm Sunday, December 20th to create our intentions for the solstice and our 24-hours of silence. We will gather again online at the end of the silent retreat at 7:00 pm on Monday, December 21st, to share our experience and what we will carry forward from it.
In many earth-based traditions, the winter is the season of a richer dreamtime and time to connect more deeply with our ancestors. Join me in aligning with the natural energies of this spiritually rich time.
