Saturday Class Series: Poetry for Wellness
Marcia Rutan will facilitate a Poetry for Wellness Class Series in November and December.
Reading and writing poems together offers healing and compassionate community for greater wholeness. You are welcome, whether or not you have ever written a poem; this will be a safe space.
We will focus on modules titled:
Poetry as a Tool for Wellness;
Listening to Self and Others;
Self-Compassion and Empathy;
Healthy Choices;
Overcoming Obstacles,
Generating Forgiveness;
Riding Waves of Change – Hope and Transformation;
Gratitude;
Self-care;
and conclude with a Celebration.
Bio: Marcia Rutan began writing poems at six years old and keeping a diary/journal at nine years old. She has primarily used these practices for self-healing though has also shared poetry publicly at church, on Santa Fe public radio, Facebook, and as a recycling rap star. She trained with the Institute of Poetic Medicine in 2020 to facilitate Poetry for Wellness circles and is excited to launch the initial circle with Seattle Unity.
Classes: 9 Sessions, Saturdays, 3-5 pm;
