Rooftop Protest Singalong
with Seattle Unity Worship Arts Director Erin McGaughan
Sunday August 2nd, 2026.
11:30 am to 12:45 pm
.
People have been singing their protests since the beginning of our species.  This rooftop singalong session focuses on the catchiest songs of social justice, the songs made to be learned by ear, by ordinary people walking on the streets.  So you don’t need a lyric sheet, or training, or a great ear, or strong voice.
We’ll sing some classic easy favorites like We Shall Overcome, We Who Believe in Freedom, and We Are a Gentle Angry People, along with several of the most useful songs from the new Singing Resistance, like We Are Not Afraid, Somebody’s Hurting My Brother, and Hold On My Dear Ones.  From the streets of Minneapolis to the campfires of Seattle, these modern times have been ULTRA-fertile ground for tunes of protest.
