Theme: Invincible Summer

This phrase was coined by French existential philosopher, Albert Camus. Camus was a major voice for justice through his journalism, philosophy, activism, drama, and novels. After fighting fascism and seeing the devastation of Europe in World War II, he traveled back to Algeria, where he had grown up. He visited Tipasa, where as a teen, in summer he slept under the stars and roamed freely around the ancient Roman ruins. But returning as an adult, he found that the ruins were surrounded by barbed wire and a guardian was posted. His memories of freedom and innocence were crushed. Some time later, he returned again, having made peace with everything. In his lyrical essay, “Return to Tipasa,” he wrote:
