In celebration of All Soul’s Day, Erin leads this Worship Arts session all about the power of old hymns, chants and religious singalong songs, to put us in touch with the past.  This is a FREE singing-and-learning session, though non-singers are very welcome, too.

We’ll chew on questions like:

– What makes a song a “hymn” and how is that different from a chant, a singalong, or other religious song?

– Why does singing hymns sometimes feel like time travel?  Or raising the dead?

– Which religious songs make you especially remember someone who has passed on?

We’ll sing from several hymnals, including Wings of Song, the African American Heritage Hymnal, the Gregorian Missal, and a few others – but don’t worry, you don’t have to know how to read music, promise!
