Umoja is a Swahili word meaning unity – unity in the family, community, and nation. Seattle Unity Umoja Study Group will be meeting Thursday, August 13, at 7PM via Zoom to celebrate our eleventh anniversary in the spirit of togetherness!

I invite attendees to come with their favorite drink as we toast this occasion, along with a glass of water and a plant for the pouring of libations to honor the ancestors that have brought us this far.

After the libations and raising our glasses, we will continue our discussion of the “Healing Wisdom of Africa” by Malidoma Patrice Some’.  We will dive into Part Two – “Relationships of Healing: The Community” which delves into youth, mentors, and elders and their role in a healthy community.
