Thanksgiving is, and has always been, Rev. Karen’s favorite holiday. She touched on all the rituals – special table setting, special family dishes, celebrating and being grateful to be with family and friends.
She broadened this to the process of gratitude, using Jesus’ parable of the loaves and the fishes.
The practical take-away: when you are in fear, stop, sit down, and give thanks. This leads into balance – to being aware but not taking too much into yourself of the world (which can lead to depression). Witness, but not crawling into the hole with the suffering person.
Our unexpected guest artists were our Home Team, who brilliantly rose to the challenge. (Our scheduled featured artist was ill.)
