Rev. Karen opened by recommending the purchase and use of a book, “The Soul of a Pilgrim: Eight Practices for the Journey Within” by Christine Valters Paintner. This is the text she’s using in our annual theme, “The Inner Pilgrim”, and will be the discussion book this year for our Home Groups.
“Today, we finally cross the threshold”, she said. She used the biblical story of Exodus throughout her talk, and discussed being in the wilderness, (where the complaining REALLY starts).
When we are not really ready to cross a threshold, when we have not assimilated the necessary internal changes, we will tend to re-create the same situation over and over. When we’ve had a spiritual change, and awakening, we simply can’t go back, and changes then occur.
She quoted Albert Einstein, “We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them”.
Awareness, Acceptance, and Forgiveness are the tools to invoke shifts and deep change.
We were introduced to the exquisite and lush voice of Sarah Russell as our guest artist.
