Celebrating Mothers’ Day, Rev. Karen invited three congregants to speak on their take on the subject of motherhood.
Tina Gilbert spoke on her experiences as a mother and as a daughter, and of perfectionism and of shame. Her superhero, Brene Brown, gave a talk on “Sweaty Creatives” which Tina referenced.
Aidan Dona spoke of his deep and heartfelt appreciation of his Mom and grandmother, of unconditional love and of being consciously grateful.
Monique Lowe spoke on the global meaning of motherhood, referenced Flip Wilson’s Geraldine, thanking her own mother, and ended with a quote from Carl Jung:
“Every Mother contains her daughter in herself and every daughter her mother and every mother extends backwards into her mother and forwards into her daughter.”
Erin McGaughan let our brilliant Home Team in the musical accompaniment, with astounding motherhood.-themed songs.
