Guest speaker Diane Robertson spoke of the threads connecting us in our lives to people and to experiences.
She spoke of looking at conflicts from a perspective of “otherness” and from a perspective of “oneness”.
She touched on the Fourth of July, and how the holiday is both a celebration for some and a falling short of our ideals for others, and of the importance of holding and honoring both perspectives.
She spoke of truly respecting everyone, regardless of where they are at, and quoted rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
Our guest artist, Justin Huertas, accompanied the theme(s) brilliantly with his songs.
