“There’s the tree, there’s the gifts, but what about the core of Christmas? It’s like taking the frosting on the cake but not really trying the cake.”
Senior Minister Rev. Karen Lindvig invites us to look closely at the biblical Christmas story. She helps us interpret these miracles in metaphysical ways, for example by seeing Mary as an example of how we meet the unexpected, and seeing the shepherds as symbolic of our thoughts, which must lay down in stillness for us to perceive the full mysteries of this season.
Inez Lowe gives the reading, which is James Dillet Freeman’s “Embracing Christmas“.
The talk begins at 22:15 in this podcast.
