Spring Blessings from Rev. Diane
Spring Blessings
As we enter into this fifth month of 2026 it is an opportunity to pause and reflect on what the year has already brought. As a spiritual community our annual theme is Spiritual Foundations. Each month we have been exploring different ways to both strengthen and explore our personal and collective spiritual foundations through different spiritual practices and ways of walking through the world. The intention is not to leave one theme behind as we get to the end of a calendar month, but rather that they become woven together for a stronger foundation that supports every aspect of our life.
In May we explore more deeply prayer and meditation. Prayer was the seed that started the Unity movement and the Unity movement has always been deeply rooted in prayer. Unity cofounder, Myrtle Fillmore found a path of prayer that would transform her life and in time transform the lives of her husband, Charles, and their sons; and continue to ripple outward from their lives and across time to impact tens of thousands of people. Myrtle Fillmore is often considered the mother of Unity and so in this month of May when we celebrate Mother’s Day, we will be looking at the wisdom of Myrtle in our exploration of prayer as well as other voices of divine wisdom.
Later in life when Myrtle wrote about her spiritual journey, she shared that her and Charles and their sons “were a sickly lot” and “in the midst of all this gloom, we kept looking for a way out.” Prayer and meditation was their way out and led them to a transformative relationship with God.
Others have carried forward this core spiritual practice in a form that Myrtle and Charles discovered were reliable and consistent — affirmative prayer.
This month more than a dozen opportunities to engage with and deepen your prayer and meditation practice are offered. One of these opportunities is to join me in the Heart of Prayer class series either in-person or online. When we come together in prayer and to explore spiritual practices, our experience is deepened in ways that typically cannot happen in a solo journey.
Join in the 9am Meditation that happens every Sunday. It may be a way of trying out a new practice or reigniting an existing one. It might also be a way in which you can support others’ spiritual journey through your presence and the sacred spaces that you are part of creating.
Blessings on this journey,
Rev. Diane
