Sermon Summary

Title: “Be the LIght in the Darkness” — As a followup to last week’s Burning Bowl service by Rev. Karen Lindvig, Diane Robertson offers her sermon to kick off 2019 with the White Stone Sunday Service. Titled “Listening for Your Vision,” Diane weaves together events from 2018 with the new year of 2019; connects the Burning Bowl process with the White Stone process; focuses on letting a word or phrase for the White Stone bubble up from deep within the mind, heart and intuition to guide and inform our inner spiritual development and outer expression of that development in the coming year.

Rumi Poem Excerpt from “A Garden Beyond Paradise”:

Everything you see has its roots
in the unseen world.
The forms may change,
yet the essence remains the same.

Every wonderful sight will vanish,
every sweet word will fade,
But do not be disheartened,
The source they come from is eternal—
growing, Branching out,
giving new life and new joy.

Why do you weep?
That source is within you
And this whole world
is springing up from it.

Kay Neill’s Reading of “The Mind of the Victorious Ones”:

The Mind of the Victorious Ones
Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche

Profound and tranquil, free from complexity,
Uncompounded luminous clarity,
Beyond the mind of conceptual ideas;
This is the depth of the mind of the Victorious Ones.

In this there is not a thing to be removed,
Nor anything that needs to be added.
It is merely the immaculate
Looking naturally at itself.
