Rituals: Christening
A christening is a sacred naming ceremony for a baby which acknowledges the Spirit of the Divine within them. Each child is a gift from God and parents, family and friends have a sacred duty to raise the child so that the inherent beauty locked in their soul may come forth.
In this ceremony, parents and close family members, as well as the godparents are invited to speak a word of blessing. The ceremony includes: a rose – which symbolizes the unfoldment of the soul; a candle – which symbolized the Spirit of Light; and water – which symbolizes purity. This is a wonderful way to consecrate the beginning of a new life.
Christenings can be conducted during the Sunday service in front of the community or privately in a smaller room at a different time.
