Unity Village is perfect for writing. Located in the Kansas City area, which serves some of the best barbecue in the country, it is a tranquil setting with a golf course, walking trails, and a labyrinth. It is the home of Silent Unity and some of the largest and most photographed fountains in the greater Kansas City area. There will be time to tour the grounds and discover some of the history of Unity.

Accommodations are located at Hummingbird Vista and Fillmore Manor. There are a limited number of single and shared rooms available. The long weekend includes guided writing exercises, reflective time and group work. All activities support a contemplative mindset in which to write. There is an optional church service at a Unity Church on Sunday morning.

This workshop is for both veteran writers and beginners. Time will be allotted for those working on personal writing projects.

Bios:

Karen has studied the art of writing memoir at the University of Washington and Hugo House located in Seattle. She has been writing sermons for 38 years as well as fiction and memoir.

Diane recently completed Unity Worldwide Spiritual Institute’s Masters of Divinity program. Growing up in Unity and recently finishing this program, provides Diane a deep knowledge of Unity history and evolution. She loves Unity Village as a retreat location and is excited to share that with others.
