Two Christmas Candle Light Services allow you to choose the one fitting best into your schedule. Both nights get the full special event treatment! Senior Minister Rev. Karen Lindvig leads, and they feature music with Music Director Erin McGaughan, DIOS members, plus special guests Tiffany Wilson, Darrius Willrich, Justin Huertas, and Kirsten deLohr Helland.
Our first is on the Wednesday before Christmas, Dec. 21st, at 7 pm.
Prior to that service, at 5 pm, we’ve got a pre-service evening of merriment planned: our traditional Clam Chowder Supper, featuring both white & red clam chowders made from scratch, of course – (would Jeanne EVER serve you canned soup???). We invite you to bring a plate of your favorite cookies, and try out the specialties brought by others. And, for the first time, we’re having an ugly Christmas sweater contest. Wear that atrocious gift you received – if it’s not a sweater, but a tie, or a vest, or a hat, or whatever, if it’s tacky, it’s the theme! The contest will be judged by the effervescent Matt Corey (also our Christmas Choir Director) so it will certainly be hilarious. One prize will be awarded, and it’s completely up to the judge’s judgment.
Saturday Dec. 24th, Christmas Eve, also at 7 pm, will be our second Candle Light Service, with the timeless ritual of “church on Christmas Eve”
And, this year, as Christmas falls on Sunday, we’ll meet joyously in commUnity at 10 am Christmas morning, with lots of carol singing and a most meaningful Christmas lesson.
We come together to experience the divinity, faith, humility, compassion, understanding, and love this holiday season brings.
