Two Christmas Candle Light Services allow you to choose the one fitting best into your busy schedule. We come together to experience the divinity, faith, humility, compassion, understanding, and love this holiday season brings.
Both nights get the full special event treatment! Senior Minister Rev. Karen Lindvig leads, and they feature music with Music Director Erin McGaughan, our house band, plus special guests Rafe Pearlman, Frederick Hagreen & Tiffany Wilson. Children are completely welcome to these services, and we have activity packs to carry them through the “boring bits” they might experience.
Our first is on the Wednesday before Christmas, December 19th, at 7 pm.
Prior to that service, at 5 pm, we’ve got our 3rd annual pre-service evening of merriment planned: our traditional Clam Chowder Supper, featuring both white & red clam chowders made from scratch, of course – (would Jeanne EVER serve you canned soup???). We invite you to bring a plate of your favorite cookies, and try out the specialties brought by others in the Cookie Potluck. Plus the ugly Christmas sweater contest. Wear that atrocious gift you received for the first time! We don’t care – if it’s not a sweater but a tie, or a vest, or a hat – if it’s tacky, we want to see it! The contest will be judged by the eminently qualified Mike Brennan (did you see his judging during the Loony Luau?) so it will certainly be unique. This judge warns in advance that he’s bribe-able… if you’ve got the right bribe! One prize will be awarded, and it’s completely up to the judge’s judgment.
Monday December 24th, Christmas Eve, also at 7 pm, will be our second Candle Light Service, with the timeless ritual of “church on Christmas Eve”. there’s always a special hush about this particular service. No mater how many times we hold to this tradition, each Christmas Eve is different, and magical.
