Board Brief – April 2025

Board Brief

All board members attended the March meeting, and great things are happening at Seattle Unity. Here are the key updates and decisions:

Planning & Events

Preparations are underway for our upcoming Open House for Non-Profits, taking place on Thursday, April 17, from 5–7 p.m. This event will celebrate our partnerships and deepen connections within the broader community.

Financial Highlights

  • Rental income has doubled compared to this time last year.
  • Operating losses are less than half of what they were previously.
  • The budget is on track, demonstrating continued fiscal responsibility.

The Finance Team also formalized a policy to maintain a reserve fund equivalent to six months of operating expenses to ensure long-term financial stability.

Budget Recap

Total expenses came in $9,200 under budget.
Revenue from tithes, rentals, and other sources met 100% of the budgeted goal.
Year-to-date loss is $9,500 better than budget.
Contracted services were over by $876.
Repairs & Maintenance costs registered an unexpected repair of $1,508 for the dishwasher.
Equipment and software expenses came in higher than budget.

Pledges & Membership

A successful pledge campaign resulted in, 92 pledges totaling $211,290, surpassing our $200,000 financial goal (though slightly short of our pledge participation target.)
Membership stands at 260, and we joyfully welcomed three new members to the congregation in March.

Committee Highlights

The Digital, Prosperity, Safety, and Engagement subcommittees continue to meet regularly and advance important initiatives.
A community writing workshop and a safety team briefing are among recent and upcoming activities.

Commitment
