Celebrating Fathers’ Day today, Marcia Rutan read an origanal poem in honor of fathers, and four of our congregants told stories of their fathers., Today’s talk is by Kerry McKenna, Gerry Schley, Tom Henscheid and Tom Palmersheim.
Each man had a different relationship with his father, and the fathers all had wildly different life experiences. This provided a wise and heartwarming honoring of father-energy for this day.
Our guest artist, Sean Bendickson, was a former member of our House Band, and we warmly welcomed him back!
Here are the program quotes from this Sunday:
I never met a man I didn’t like; some by coming, and some by going. ~ Edward Francis McKenna
Let us, then, be up and doing, with a heart for any fate; still achieving, still pursuing, learn to labor and to wait. ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (Booker T. Schley’s favorite saying)
Before I had children I had 90 theories – then I had 9 children – now I have no theories. ~ Bernard Henscheid
Our parents are our link to the past. Through our DNA we are propelled forward as children or progeny of our parents and their parents and so on… all the way back in time. ~ Tom Palmersheim
