We honor and revere all the amazing talents of Mary Bonine, our current Finance Minister and Rentals Manager. We will celebrate her on Sunday, July 9th. Her last day with us is Friday July 7th, as she is moving to a management position in Miles City, Montana.
A multi-talented woman, Mary began volunteering in the administrative area when her son, Alexander, was just a babe. She helped Annie with flyers, programs, slideshows, pictures, and anything else that came her way. “I can do that” is a mantra of Mary’s. Gradually she began as paid staff, at first very part-time, with projects and vacation fill-ins. She then worked part time producing all of the Sunday-related programs, slideshows, announcements, etc.. As our beloved Gail Winsauer experienced her health issues, Mary stepped up more and more in the financial area, first as Rental Manager, and then fully as our Finance Minister.
Mary will be deeply missed on the staff and within the congregation. She first attended in 2009, this became her spiritual community, and she became a member in 2011. She’s been extremely actively involved as a congregant. She and Jenny Bonnici started the Family CommUnity Group and she’s been a mainstay of the Prayer Shawl Ministry, as just two examples of her Presence here. Many of us have enjoyed her Mebalo Creations at the CommUnity Marketplaces.
In addition, Mary and Colleen Kahn sponsored the Native African Tapestry.
You can say farewell to Mary at Mary@seattleunity.org.
We wish her all the best, and will miss her profoundly.
Mary’s financial positions will be filled by Gale Dawn Scott, (who goes by Dawn). You can welcome her at DawnS@seattleunity.org.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Library blessing. It was a beautiful and meaningful tribute to our beloved library. We blessed all the authors, all the people who have worked in the library over the years, and all people who have taken classes in the library and just hung out there socializing with fellow congregants. Annie Christensen led a simple and beautiful ceremony for us.
Do You Have Your Little Paper Journal Yet?
Hi Peeps. Didi here.
Mariah and I are doing the Little Paper Journal Project for This is US. We ask you to use them to write down anything meaningful to you during this year of transformation…..quotes, memories, things to remember from Rev. Karen’s sermon, your thoughts……..and on.
If you don’t have a journal you can get one at Serendipity or ask Mariah or me. If you have a journal …..great. You can get more than one if you like as well. Or give one to a friend. They are a buck, what a deal. No buck, get one anyway (:
We will collect them at some point, display them in some cool, creative way and excerpt them for the book we will be making.
If you have any ideas, inspirations or questions or want to know how to get involved you can email me at email@example.com.
And much gratitude to everyone who is so supportive of the This is US project. You’re cool.
Did you know? Marelu’s also an accomplished singer! Yes, she’s in several bands and groups! She’s inviting you to her latest appearance, at “Star Spangled Spectacular” on July 3rd.
July 9th is our annual all-church picnic! Join us back in Denny Park following the service. SU provides: Burgers, Dogs (Vegetarian, too), Condiments, & Beverages. Congregants provide: the delectable
sides, the fun festivities, & the amusing conversations.
Volunteers are ALWAYS welcome to produce the annual picnic – most especially in the cleanup area. If you’ve never tried volunteering before, would you like to “test drive”? This is your opportunity! It’s a limited commitment, just a couple hours, and you’re done! It’s a way to see if you enjoy serving our commUnity; then you can choose to commit something of a more ongoing basis.
Service with a smile! Lots of ways to help our commUnity – check with Terry Loving, Volunteer Coordinator (206) 622-8475 x 114 or firstname.lastname@example.org and find your place to joyfully serve!
