“ Life is perpetual creation: It has its truth when it outgrows itself
in the infinite”
~Rabindranath Tagore
Yes! Spring!
It is the time of creation when our long grey days of Seattle winter
are giving way to new possibilities. How I love it when the first
little crocus pops its head up through the earth to be warmed by
the sun.
Like the rest
of life, our community is a perpetual creation, always growing
and changing. Every committee, team and group is the fertile soil
from which love, support and connection emerges. Each time you
join us in community we have the opportunity to experience creating
something special together, each experience a beautiful flower
of healing and hope, expanding your spirit as it grows and flourishes.
Join us often this spring. From the movie The Secret which is being
featured on Oprah to Deeksha and our fabulous music there is something
to change everyone’s life a little or a lot.
We are excited
to have several new Board Members, Jenny Weitzman, Laurie Tucker
and Judy Striker Curran working with us to plan the year. We are
all available to hear your concerns, wishes and hopes. Please reach
out to us often.
And you have
so many flowers to add to the bouquet of others. So, please join
us during this abundant season. By the time summer arrives you
will be amazed at the transformation in yourself and our community.
Happy spring!

Realizing the
Vision of Seattle Unity
Many years ago
when I first came to Seattle Unity, I appreciated that people were
accepted for who they were and where they were on their spiritual
path. So many options were available to help each person learn
to grow and flourish. My hope is that we are continuing that tradition
and embody that acceptance and envelope each of you as you grow
in spirit. We stated that hope in our vision statement and say
it each Sunday.
It seems that over the years, I have grown in different areas at different
times and this spring we have been focusing on generosity. Finances have always
been a big one for me and it’s a good thing there have been so many prosperity
teachers in the Unity movement. I needed them all! Tithing and generosity go
hand in hand to build your spiritual trust in God and faith in all that is
good. It can be hard to take those initial leaps of faith. I know you will
learn, as I did, the many blessings that flow from these practices. In our
community many stand waiting to help you with this part of your journey: the
ministers, the Board of Trustees, the Licensed Unity Teachers and staff. We
can all help you understand tithing and the blessings associated with it for
you. If you haven’t tried it, give it six months and see what the flow
is like. As they say, “Try it! You’ll like it!”
Another practice for your spiritual growth is forgiveness and we are blessed
to have Rev. Robbie teaching the Course in Miracles each week. This is guaranteed
to help heal you and set you on the path of forgiveness. The Course, and all
the teachings that flowed from it, changed my life. There are also resources
available in the Counseling and Holistic Health Center, regardless of your
need.
Lest we forget the more quiet part of your development, Rev. Karen works with
the Levys and spiritual ministries to build a rich prayer program for us. Whether
Wednesday for contemplative prayer, music and Deeksha, the prayer team, or
chaplaincy calls there is a way to deepen your connection to spirit and calm
that chatter in your mind for just awhile, long enough to listen. We are here
to help you with this aspect of spiritual connection.
Each week the ministers, Board, staff and volunteers provide opportunities
to “dedicate, celebrate, inspire, and deepen our individual and collective
spiritual journeys.”
We hope we are bringing you peace, joy, and prosperity and that you have a
wonderful summer.
